Circle Conference of West Bengal Circle
The 9th Bi-ennial Circle Conference of All
India RMS & MMS Employees Union, Gr-‘C’ and All India RMS & MMS
Employees Union, MG & MTS of West Bengal Circle was held on and from 27th Dec,2011 at P & T Auditorium, Salt
Lake, Kolkata.
The Conference was
inaugurated by Com. Kali Ghosh, General Secretary, CITU, West Bengal. Com.
Ghosh explained in details about the roll of P & T workers movement
throughout India. He also explained the roll of P&T workers particularly in
1946. Against the onslaughts enleashed by the Govt. of India against the
working class, the postal employees, particularly the RMS & MMS employees
are on the frontline. Awareness is to be developed about the Pension Bill,
about the Government’s attempt towards curtailments of the benefit of the
working class. The working class continued their struggles and ultimately they
achieved to a great extent. The working class of India are on the way to
organize a nation wise General Strike on 28th Feb, 2012 and all the cross-sections
of Postal employees including RMS & MMS employees are being called upon to
participate in the Strike wholeheartedly.
Com. Pijush Roy, General
Secretary of CGCC, Com. P. Dasgupta, President, P-III, Com. N. Dey, C/S, P-IV,
Com. B. G. Sur, C/S, GDS, Com. B. Naskar, C/S, RMS & MMS Casual Workers
Union, Com. S. P. Mukherjee, C/S, DPLI & Vice-President NFPE, offered their
deliberations in the open Session.
On 28th December, 2011, Com. S. S. Roy, Joint
Convener, 12th July
Committee addressed in the session and explained elaborately about the ensuing
Postal Strike and the General Strike. He requested to review the role of us in
the previous struggles and advised to clinch out the lapses if any in the past.
He also stressed on the development of the unity of the working class as a
whole.
A Seminar was held on 28th Dec, 2011 on the subject of “Corporate
plan in Postal Department”. The main speaker of the seminar was Comrade M.
Krishnan, Secretary General, NFPE. In a simple manner he explained the feature
of Postal Department and the role of Government at this moment. At the time of
deliberations he emphasized on the future plan of the Department, with a
caution about the role of TRAI, the Department is approaching towards the
formation of PRAI to achieve their first face of programme. Ensuing strike
issues were also discussed. He gave a call to the employees of RMS & MMS to
take a sincere and serious stand to be on the frontline of the movement.
Com. Giriraj Singh, General
Secretary, R-III and Com. P. Suresh, General Secretary, R-IV also attended the
conference and explained about the attacks on RMS & MMS employees as well
as other Postal employees.
Sri S. K. Chakraborty, CPMG,
West Bengal Circle, attended the Conference on 27-12-11 and Sri S. Ranjan,
DPS(HQ) attended the conference on 28-12-11.
Nearly 300 Delegates (R-II
& R-IV) attended the conference and 54 R-III Delegates participated at the
discussion on Secretary report and organizational affairs.

Bardhan, Com. S. C. Ball and Com. S. K. Roy elected as President, Circle
Secretary, Treasurer and Organizational Secretary respectively for R-III.
Com. I. Tiwary, Com. S.
Chakraborty, Com. I. Chakraborty and Com. D. Dey elected as President, Circle
Secretary, Treasurer and Organizational Secretary respectively for R-IV.
