Comrade G. S. Nagendra, A legend passes

Veteran trade union leader com G.S. Nagendra, aged 68 years passed away on   11-01-2014 at 07-30AM at Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru-11.
Com G.S.Nagendra was the one of the tallest leader of the postal, RMS and MMS trade union movement in the hierarchy after Com A.Raghothaman, Com N.Bhaskaran, Com C.V.Ananda, Com N.Muthusubramanian, Com V.S.Joshi and Com H.Ramaiah and one of the founder leaders of Karnataka RMS & MMS EMPLOYEES trade union movement. He served as vice president, Assistant general secretary of All India RMS & MMS UNION Group ”C”, New Delhi-1 and circle secretary of Karnataka for well over a decade. He was instrumental in making the RMS & MMS Union as the most militant organization among Central Government employees’ organizations. He led many strikes and struggles for serving the interests of the workers unmindful of the consequences. He was relentless in the fight against anti-worker policies of the ruling class and believed that no struggles will ever go in vain.
Com G.S.Nagendra was a very simple in his life style, highly respected by all ,very soft spoken with high vision, a very good orator and sacrificed a lot to the cause of workers. He never went back on his commitments and was most accessible to the workers.  He was also a very good Philosopher, Guide, Novelist, Master, Bi-lingual writer both in Kannada and English and interested in many activities on the stage and in sports. He wrote many articles for popular Kannada weekly magazine like “Prajamatha”, ”Sudha” in 1970’s.After his retirement Com G.S.Nagendra  wrote a book on RMS memories in Kannada namely “RMS Nenapugalu” the book was published by Aikyatha prakashana and approved by Govt of Karnataka and available in all libraries and Book stalls.
Com G.S.Nagendra played a gigantic and key role in constructing our prestigious union building at Sahakarnagar, Bengaluru- 560092. Bhoomi pooja by putting shilnyas for the building was held on 10th May 1998 by com C.C.Pillai ,then secretary general NFPE and inauguration of the building also inagurated by com C.C.Pillai on 3-6-2001.This clearly shows what eminent leader he was in Karnataka RMS union. Com G.S. Nagendra, was the brain behind our all India conference held at Belagula(Mysore) and silver jubilee conference at Bangalore and made both the conference a historic and successful conferences. He always encouraged youngsters to take a leading role in the union and other fields and insists to take important key posts/positions in the interest of building a stronger union.

Circle secretaries of R-III and R-IV along with Com M.D.N.Murthy, C/P, Admin Union, Com Javarayee Gowda, ACS ,PIII, representatives of P-IV,AIPEU,GDS(NFPE), Telecom, BSNL and other unions pay their homage to Com G.S.Nagendra.

Com G.S.Nagendra in his death also given a message to all by donating his body to M.S.Ramaiah Medical college Bengaluru- 54 for medical studies/investigations  by the students. Long live the memories of Com G.S.Nagendra and red salutes to our legendary leader.

CONDOLENCE MEETING TO COM. G.S NAGENDRA

       A mass condolence meeting will be held on 26-01-2014 (Sunday) at Union Building , Sahakar Nagar, Bangaluru at 10.00 AM to pay homage to Com. G.S. Nagendra, Ex Vice President CHQ and ex Circle Secretary R-III Karnataka Circle,  who passed away on 11-01-2014.
